Sunday’s 46th annual Grammy Awards telecast delivered its highest numbers in three years, driving CBS to an easy victory for the night. This left The Simpsons with its lowest figures in quite some time, rating fourth in its timeslot with just 8.9 million viewers.

Ratings: Diatribe Of Mad Housewife
“Return of the King” and “Lost in Translation” were the big winners at Sunday night’s Golden Globes and helped turn NBC into the night’s big ratings winner. Overall, NBC averaged a 14.8 rating/22 share, beating the night’s regular winner CBS, which had an 8.5/13. FOX was a distant third with a 4.4/7. Among adults 18-49, NBC held onto its large margin of victory with an 8.5 rating in the coveted demographic. CBS was well back in second with a 3.5 rating, with FOX’s 3.4 good enough for a tight third. At 8 p.m., NBC zipped into first with the 16.0/23 for the first hour of the Globes. CBS dropped to second with the still-solid 9.7/14 for “Cold Case.” FOX finished third with “The Simpsons” new episode “Diatribe Of A Mad Housewife” (5.9/9) and “The Bernie Mac Show” (4.6/7), taking out ABC’s “10-8” and The WB’s “Charmed.”

Ratings: I, D’oh-Bot
The Simpsons had a stellar night on Sunday, boosted by the NFC championships which aired before it, the episode “I, D’oh-bot” ranked #13 for the week with 16.30 million viewers nationwide. The event helped the episode become the most-watched this season; a trend that continued with The Bernie Mac Show afterwards (ranked #40, 11.39 million viewers).

UK Ratings: Regina Monologues
On Friday night Sky One broadcast the UK TV premiere of the much-hyped Simpsons episode featuring Tony Blair, complete with a voice provided by the British prime minister himself. The Simpsons: the Regina Monologues, featured Homer and the gang on a visit to London, during which they are welcomed to Britain by Mr Blair at the airport and also run into JK Rowling and Sir Ian McKellen. Sky One was watched by 1.1 million viewers and attracted an 8% share of the multichannel audience between 8pm and 8.30pm on Friday, when the new Simpsons episode was on air. This was well below the highest ever rating Simpsons on Sky One, which was 1.65 million for an episode broadcast in February 2001. However, The Regina Monologues proved more popular in multichannel homes than BBC2’s Hidden Gardens, a Friends repeat on Channel 4 and Channel Five’s Moving to Mars.

Ratings: Marge Vs. .. Everybody
Here’s the fast national ratings for Sunday. Overall for the night, ABC averaged a 12.0 rating/18 share, trouncing the night’s normal winner CBS, which had a 9.9/15 for second. NBC claimed third followed by FOX’s 4.7/7. This trend was repeated in the coveted demographic 18-49, with FOX also coming out fourth. At 8 p.m., ABC moved into the lead with the 13.0/19 for the showdown between the Sooners and the Tigers. CBS dropped to second with the 10.2/15 for “Without a Trace.” FOX’s new episode of The Simpsons titled “Marge Vs. Singles, Seniors, Childless Couples and Teens and Gays” (6.7/10) and “The Bernie Mac Show” (5.1/7) were good enough for third, topping “American Dreams” on NBC. ‘Tis The Ratings Report
Against extremely tough competition, NBC got a solid performance out of “Secret Santa,” but it wasn’t nearly enough. The finale of “Survivor” helped CBS run the table on Sunday night. Overall, CBS averaged a 12.6 rating/19 share for a comfortable advantage over second place NBC. FOX was well back in third at 6.1/9. Among adults 18-49, CBS maintained its margin of victory in the coveted demographic. FOX finished second for the night at 4.4. At 8pm, the first hour of the “Survivor: Pearl Islands” finale earned a 13.2/20, more than doubling up FOX’s new Simpsons episode ‘Tis The Fifteenth Season (6.6/10) and “The Bernie Mac Show” (5.5/8).

Ratings: Today I Am A Clown
The much anticipated ‘Today I Am A Clown’ did well in the opinion polls, lets see how it rated on Sunday. For the night, CBS averaged an 11.7/18, miles in front of second place ABC. NBC was a distant third with FOX right behind at 4.7/7. Among adults 18-49, CBS had a 4.8 rating to win the coveted demographic. FOX moved up to second with a 3.4 rating. At 8 p.m., CBS rode “Cold Case” to a 10.6/16 and the hourly win. FOX moved up to second with “The Simpsons” (6.1/9) and “The Bernie Mac Show” (5.7/9). Nielsen’s weekly data will be available later this week, when we’ll bring you the figures and ranking for the episode.

Ratings: Fat And The Furriest
With The Simpsons without its 8:30pm rerun this week, Bernie Mac took its place. Lets see how The Fat And The Furriest fared. Overall for the night, CBS averaged an 11.2 rating/17 share for the evening, NBC in second, ABC in third with 5.9/9 and FOX came fourth with 5.3/8. Among adults 18-49, CBS stayed in the lead with a 4.4 rating in the coveted demographic. FOX was second with a 3.8 rating. At 8 p.m., CBS’ “60 Minutes” (and “Cold Case” in some markets) had a strong 11.5/18 for the hour. FOX moved up to second with “The Simpsons” (6.8/10) and the season premiere of “The Bernie Mac Show” (6.1/9). The Simpsons came in at #33 for the week with about 12 million viewers. 89% of this audience stuck around to help The Bernie Mac Show get the figures.

Ratings: Regina Monologues
The Simpsons visit to England was one of the most publicised episodes this year, lets see how it fared in the fast national ratings. “CBS averaged an 11.8 rating/18 share in primetime, far ahead of second-place NBC’s 7.3/11. FOX was third at 5.5/8. Among adults 18-49, CBS led with a 4.8 rating and FOX averaged 4.1. CBS kept the lead at 8 p.m. with 60 Minutes, 11.7/17. FOX moved up to second with The Simpsons, which posted a 7.0/10 for The Regina Monologues at 8 and a 7.1/10 for a rerun of Brake My Wife Please at 8:30.” Bit of a change from the third placed ranking it’s been receiving. These episodes came in at #26 and #27 with just over 12 million viewers for the week.

Ratings: The President Wore Pearls
Preliminary ratings for last night’s episode are now available: For the night, CBS averaged a 9.1 rating/14 share. ABC claimed second at 7.3/11, edging NBC’s 7.1/11. FOX was a close fourth at 6.8/10. Among adults 18-49, FOX came out ahead with a 5.0 rating in the coveted demographic. CBS moved to the front at 8 p.m. with the 9.3/14 for “Cold Case.” ABC was second with the 8.2/12 for the first hour of the AMAs. Two episodes of “The Simpsons” (The President Wore Pearls, rerun of The Bart Of War) averaged a 7.0/10 on FOX.
For the week, The President Wore Pearls scored 12.74 million viewers at #25, and The Bart Of War got 12.32 million at #32.

Ratings: My Mother The Carjacker
Here’s the fast ratings for this weekend: Overall for the evening, CBS averaged a 10.6 rating/17 share, well ahead of NBC’s 8.7/14. ABC held onto third with a 5.8/9, beating FOX’s 5.4/8. Among adults 18-49, CBS scored victory with a 4.9 rating. This race was closer, as NBC was close behind in second with a 4.5 rating, followed by FOX’s 4.3. Fueled by “60 Minutes” overrun, “Cold Case” gave CBS the 8 p.m. hour with a 9.8/15. In a regular twist, a new episode of “The Simpsons” (My Mother The Carjacker) earned a 6.8/11 for FOX, but was beaten by the repeat of Three Gays Of The Condo which followed it with a 6.9/10.
For the week, Nielsen reports My Mother The Carjacker received 12.4 million viewers (ranked #30) while Three Gays Of The Condo got 12.6 (#28).

Ratings: Treehouse Of Horror
On the first Sunday of the November sweep, FOX finally launched the premieres for most of its popular Sunday night comedies, but it was an event 75 years in the making that helped carry CBS to the win for the night. The beginning of the network’s “CBS at 75” special carried CBS to a 12.2/18 at 8 p.m., enough to win the hour. The “Treehouse of Horror XIV” episode of The Simpsons pulled in an 8.8/13 and a repeat of “Barting Over” scored an 8.4/12 to give FOX second for the hour. ABC was third with “10-8.” Among adults 18-49, though, FOX scored a convincing victory with a 6.0 rating in the key demographic.
For the week, the new Simpsons ranked at #8 with 16.22 million viewers nationwide. The rerun occupied position #15 with 14.35 million. Its competition, “CBS At 75” came in at #6 with 18.19 million.
