“I’m Bart Simpson. Who the hell are you?” With those timeless words of wisdom, Simpsons extraordinaire Nancy Cartwright, who provides the voice of Bart Simpson, greeted an audience of nearly 400 Saturday night in Baldwin Auditorium. It was a fans-only night, as audience members quizzed each other on favorite episodes and quotes in anticipation of she who gives Bart life. It was an evening uncannily reminiscent of the “Itchy and Scratchy” convention where Homer, voice of Poochie, faces a crowd full of fault-finding nerds. The Voices Behind OFF
“A busy family, those Simpsons. Who knew that Homer guest-starred on “NYPD Blue” and “Friends,” Lisa appeared in “City Slickers” and “As Good as It Gets,” and Bart won an award for a one-woman play called “In Search of Fellini”? Well, OK, they haven’t, but their alter egos – Dan Castellaneta, Yeardley Smith and Nancy Cartwright, respectively – have done those all those things and more.

Nancy Heads For Britain
The voice behind one of the world’s most famous cartoon characters is coming to the UK. Nancy Cartwright, who is the voice of Bart Simpson in The Simpsons, will be visiting the University of Teesside’s annual animation festival in January. Ms Cartwright will be the top speaker at the Animex 2003 International Animation event, and will talk about her career as a voice-over artist. Chris Williams, Principal Lecturer in Animation at the University of Teesside, said: “Getting Nancy Cartwright to speak at Animex is a real coup for us. As the voice of one of the most famous animated characters of all time, Nancy can offer unique insights into an actor’s relationship with the cartoon characters they are helping to portray.” Read More >>>
