Marge All-Time Greatest TV Mom
New York’s Inside TV magazine has tapped Marge Simpson, mom of the dysfunctional “The Simpsons,” as the No.1 All-Time Greatest TV Mom. Marge beat out June Cleaver (“Leave it to Beaver”), who was second; Clair Huxtable (“The Cosby Show”), No.3; Lorelai Gilmore (“Gilmore Girls”), No.4; and Marion Cunningham (“Happy Days”), who was fifth.
In an “exclusive interview” with Inside TV, Lisa Simpson had this to say about her mom: “After all these years, she still makes pearls and a beehive work.” The publication’s editors noted her ability to multitask. “She’s a modern day June Cleaver who juggles bratty Bart, precocious Lisa and pacifier-addicted Maggie, while keeping hubby Homer in check.” The full list of winners, with explanations, appears in Monday’s edition of the publication.

“The Simpsons” Dominate Search
For lots of folks whose last name happens to be Simpson, last week was an active one in search. First off, America’s favorite cartoon family continued its Sunday night dominance and was up 16% for the week. Searches on matriarch Marge Simpson bounced 28% thanks to a picture of a new ‘do for the animated mom, while bad boy Bart — up 18% this week — remains the most popular family member in queries. Jessica Simpson returned for another (possibly final?) season of Newlyweds. Once an interesting concept, the travails of a ditsy dame and her hunky husband have become tiresome. Searches on the blonde bombshell dropped 26% this week, and interest in the show remained flat. Jessica’s sis Ashlee Simpson is still coming off her infamous buzz-raising performance at the Orange Bowl. The shrieking singer is beginning to slide in search, down 29% for the week — also a bad sign for MTV, which is launching the second season of her eponymous show. Read More >>>

Marge Simpson Turns Hair Model
Marge Simpson has surrendered her towering blue coiffure to help market a new hair care line. The animated mom from “The Simpsons” is featured in an ad campaign along with other cartoon characters Wilma Flintstone (“The Flintstones”), Jane Jetson (“The Jetsons”) and Velma Dinkley (“Scooby-Doo”). All four are part of magazine ads starting next month for Dove Styling; a TV commercial that began airing this month features Jane, Wilma and Velma. The company says the characters got a temporary makeover for the promotion, trading their usual helmet hair for “beautiful styles that move naturally.” TV ads can be seen on high-rated shows targeting women. Print ads show each character before they use Dove Styling, and the dramatic change afterwards.

Marge Delivers Her Message
The UK got an alternative televised Christmas message this year. In addition to the Queen’s traditional address to the nation, Channel 4 aired an exclusive animated piece for English viewers. In it, Marge Simpson spoke to viewers wishing them a Merry Christmas, using various British cliche’s. All the family members dropped in at some point during the speech, including Homer dressed as ‘Father Christmas’ and Lisa with her much publicised ‘Free Cornwall’ protest. If you don’t live in the UK you wouldn’t have been able to see this message on television, but it can be downloaded in its entirety by clicking here (10mb wmv file).

Simpsons Mock David Beckham
Not that screenshot again, right? Marge Simpson will mock David Beckham’s alleged infidelity in the eagerly-awaited Christmas speech to be screened in the UK on December 25th. The cartoon mother will compare her solid marriage to Homer, with the England Captain’s reputed affair with his personal assistant Rebecca Loos during his wife Victoria’s absence. Marge – who will be competing against British royal Queen Elizabeth II’s annual Christmas speech – will say, “My husband and I have never been happier. “Our union is as solid as the union between your David Beckham and Posh Spice… Oh, he did that? With his assistant? That’s so sad, Ok, moving on.” Of course we’re taking anything with Beckham’s name in it with a grain of salt after a few misleading articles but this one sounds legit enough.

Marge Vs Queen At Christmas
Marge Simpson will go head-to-head with the Queen by delivering this year’s alternative Christmas message, Channel 4 said today. The blue-haired cartoon character will address the nation from her home in Springfield. Marge is expected to spread a message of family harmony learned from years as the long-suffering wife of Homer and mum of Bart, Lisa and Maggie. Dysfunctional they may be but The Simpsons have been praised for promoting family values. The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, is a fan and said the show represents “sense, humility & virtue”. Marge’s 10-minute message will be broadcast at 3pm on Christmas Day, the same time as the Queen delivers her seasonal message. The alternative speech has previously been given by the likes of Ali G and Sharon Osbourne. Read More >>>

Marge Simpson Voted Top Mom
UK: Marge Simpson has been voted a top role model for mothers, beating Britain’s First Lady Cherie Blair and celebrity Victoria Beckham. Sky News reports that the star of the Simpsons TV cartoon series was chosen by young people as a good example of motherhood. Over 400 people were questioned in the Mothers’ Union poll, an Anglican charity dedicated to promoting marriage and family life. Marge reportedly claimed 23 percent of the vote. The poll found that youngsters especially admired her down-to-earth approach and advice, such as telling her three children to “listen to your heart, and not the voices in your head”, said the report.

Marge Vs. Jessica Simpson
“This is a good time to be Jessica Simpson. Sure, she’s as dumb as a doorpost, but the girl has it going on. She graces the cover of Rolling Stone magazine this week, has the best MTV series (“Newlyweds”) of the past 10 years and has just signed with ABC to do a sitcom. These are good days for Marge Simpson, too. She’s just started her 15th season on “The Simpsons,” still one of Fox’s highest-rated shows. But which Simpson is superior?” Comparing their food, husbands, best assets, virtues, fear factor, and great quotes, KnoxNews attempts to find an answer. Highly informative stuff, choose which Simpson you love best. Read More >>>
