“The owners of an escaped wolf-whistling parrot who is said to behave like Homer Simpson have appealed for help finding him. The missing African grey parrot flew off from his Suffolk home on Saturday. He’s named Homer and continuously chants expletives and the phrase “Homer, stop it!” Homer is grey in colour with white around the eyes with a red tail. He likes to watch television, particularly the US cartoon show. “We always watch the Simpsons and when we go out, we usually leave the TV on for him, particularly when the Simpsons is on. He could have got anywhere by now,” said his owner Emma Robinson, 23. In addition to the three bad swear words he knows, Homer’s vocabulary also contains the words hello, goodbye, get off, as well as a tuneful rendition of the Addams family theme, which co-owner Paul Mead has taught him. Mr Mead says he misses Homer and that his home is too quiet without the bird.” Read More >>>

Is Your Dad Like Homer?
How does a V.I.P. trip for four to Hollywood to visit a recording session of The Simpsons sound? If you are a resident of Canada and have a father that reminds you of Homer Simpson, then it can be yours. Global and Zeller’s Father’s Day promotion in conjunction with canada.com asks kids and adults to explain in 50 words or less, why their old man is a Duff beer-drinking, doughnut-eating doofus just like Homer. The best entries will then be judged by readers of the website in order to find the most deserving winner. The contest starts tomorrow and ends on June 27th. To enter, you can pick up a form at your local Zellers or at Canada.com. Runners up can receive 1 of 22 limited edition Simpsons animation cells or 1 of 314 inflatable Homer Simpson pool chairs. Further details are available at the official contest website.

Homer Honorary ‘Pegger?
“City hall is about to honour television’s most beloved and buffoonish dad for being a real homer — just in time for Father’s Day. Homer Simpson will be made an official honorary citizen of the city this Friday — a follow-up to last year’s revelation that the main character of TV’s longest-running animated sitcom is based on a real-life Winnipeg native, The Simpsons creator Matt Groening’s father. “Homer is coming to TD Centre,” Heather McIntyre, CanWest Global’s local manager of production and operations, said yesterday of the honour to be bestowed outside the city’s tallest tower. Coun. Jenny Gerbasi will make the tribute official at 1pm as CanWest Global Communications Corp. launches a national Father’s Day contest as a promotion for its TV channels. “We’re giving him a giant certificate, and there’s going to be an eight-foot-tall Homer Simpson there to receive it,” said Gerbasi, who will join CanWest officials Leonard and Gail Asper for the ceremony.” Read More >>>

Hangin’ With Homer
“Asked why he wanted to record his voice as a character on The Simpsons, British Prime Minister Tony Blair turned to producer Al Jean and said, “I just want to do one thing that will impress my kids.” When he paid his visit to Homer Simpson, Blair followed in the footsteps of Michael Jackson, Mel Gibson, Sir Elton John and Dr. Stephen Hawking. Blair’s episode is set to air in November, and he will be the first politician to guest on the show. It used to be that the ultimate mark of celebrity was hosting NBC’s Saturday Night Live or appearing on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. But somewhere along the line, Rolling Stone started putting pop-punks Good Charlotte and actress Asia Argento on the cover, and Saturday Night Live started asking U.S. Senator John McCain and skier Johnny Mosely to host. Now playing yourself on The Simpsons is the true measure of celebrity. It means you have become so important in the real world that you can transcend the fictional boundaries of the animated world.” Read More >>>

Homer Tops The Top Ten
Homer Simpson is set to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman tonight, reading the top ten list. You heard right. An animated Homer will appear on stage and read the list, in what is obviously a pre-filmed situation. You can catch it on CBS tonight! Australians can catch it just after midnight (Saturday morning). The list “Top Ten Reasons I, Homer Simpson, Am Excited To Be On This Show” reads:

Homer’s “First Time”…. On ET
On tonights episode of Entertainment Tonight, Mary Hart revealled that Homer Simpson will appear on her “Stars’ First Time On Entertainment Tonight” special. The hour-long special airs on CBS this Friday night at 8:00pm. Mary said that Homer will tell us about the time he drank a little too much before his first appearance on ET. From what we’ve heard, you can expect him to be in full animated form, rather than Dan Castellaneta talking to Mary. Other stars featured on the show include Jennifer Lopez, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Halle Berry.

Homer Reported Missing
“Homer Simpson has been kidnapped, uh, sort of. An inflatable 7-foot Homer dressed as Santa Claus was stolen last week from the front yard of a Harrison Township home and hasn’t been found. ‘It’s irritating when you can’t even put out a Christmas decoration without getting it stolen,’ said homeowner Debbie Large.

Mmmm.. Burger King
Homer Simpson has got himself yet another job. Oh no, it’s not another failed Simpsons episode, it’s Burger King’s new promotion. A true hamburger lover knows a great sandwich when he sees one. Thats why Homer is being used to plug Burger King’s new X-Treme Bacon & Cheese Whopper, available in the USA until December 31st. It’s a regular Whopper with two slices of American cheese, a single slice of smoked Cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles and ketchup. And, of course, bacon. Four strips of bacon. You can’t very well interest Homer in a burger that doesn’t have bacon. In fact, it’s hard to interest Homer in anything that doesn’t include the fruit of the pig.
